Unlocking the Secrets: Discover How Frequent Travelers Stay Healthy on the Go |
|
|
As a nutrition coach and accountability partner, I am committed to helping others maintain a balanced and nourishing lifestyle, even during their busiest days on the road. One of the most common statements I hear from clients is that they feel frustrated trying to stay on track with their frequent traveling schedule. They report not being able to find healthy options which leads to poor decisions and regret. |
Traveling can often pose challenges when it comes to maintaining healthy habits, but with the right strategies and a little bit of planning, you can stay on track with your health and wellness goals. Here are some tips and suggestions to help you prioritize your well-being during your travels: #1 Plan Ahead: Before embarking on your trip, take some time to research healthy food options available at your destination. Look for restaurants or cafes that offer nutritious meals or have vegetarian/vegan options if that align with your dietary preferences. You can also pack some healthy snacks like nuts, seeds, protein bars, or fresh fruits to have on hand when hunger strikes. |
#2 Stay Hydrated: Traveling often leads to dehydration, so it's crucial to drink plenty of water. Carry a reusable water bottle with you and refill it whenever you have the chance. Avoid excessive consumption of sugary drinks and alcohol, as they can further dehydrate your body. |
#3 Mindful Eating: When dining out, make mindful choices by opting for balanced meals that include a variety of vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains. Be mindful of portion sizes, and try to avoid overeating. Listen to your body's hunger and fullness cues to guide your eating habits. |
#4 Stay Active: Even when you're on the go, finding ways to stay active can greatly contribute to your overall well-being. Take advantage of hotel gyms, or consider packing lightweight exercise equipment such as resistance bands or a jump rope. Additionally, explore your destination by foot or bike, and aim for at least 30 minutes of physical activity each day. |
# 5 Rest and Recovery: Adequate rest is essential for maintaining your energy levels and overall health. Prioritize quality sleep by creating a relaxing bedtime routine, ensuring a comfortable sleep environment, and aiming for 7-8 hours of sleep each night. |

P.S. As a fitness enthusiast and health nut, I am HUGE on meal prepping.
Unfortunately, my meal-prepping habits don't always align with the craziness of my day and will continue to be something I work on and master.
Until I get there mentally, I have found a FEW shortcuts that, if implemented, keep me fueled for my workouts and my workday. One of those shortcuts is finding healthy meal options at a local gas station.
Just to be clear, meal prepping is vital and there are few substitutes if any; however, if there is ever a situation where you need a meal to hold you over until you get home, food at the gas station may be your saving grace versus not eating anything at all.
In the video, I discuss ten healthy food options you can find at a gas station. |
