We are excited to announce that we will introduce barbell movements in our August Bootcamp class. Now don't freak out. Members will still be getting their “Cardio Fix” for the second segment of class in the form of EMOMs, Stations, and AMRAPs that they love, As well as their favorite movements such as Rope Slams, Squats, Lunges, and Rowing. However, in the first class segment, we will introduce Barbell Back Squats, Bench Presses, and RDLs on particular days. Even though we keep our workouts constantly varied and perform “like” movements such as dumbbell RDL compared to a barbell RDL, you may ask, “Why the switch up?” 1. Change Helps Avoid Plateaus: Your body has a way of becoming too accustomed to routine activity, which prevents you from progressing toward your fitness goals. By fatiguing the muscles in a new order or pattern, you require them to adapt to a new training stimulus. 2. Work new muscles, or rather, target your muscles differently. 3. Prevent overuse or injury. Stay tuned for more details, and let’s work! |
One of our core values at Savoy Fitness is to “Inspire Change” and to achieve that we must continue grow our gym. Google reviews help build trust with prospective members by showcasing authentic experiences from current and past gym members. Even though regular alcoholic consumption can increase anxiety levels and help pile on the pounds, some alcoholic drinks may be better than others. If you are in social environments this summer and must grab a drink, some alcoholic beverages may be better than others. That’s because they disrupt blood sugar less, are less likely to aggravate the symptoms of a hangover, and are lower in empty calories. Here is a video of how to make a Vodka Tonic, a healthier, lower-calorie drink option that tastes amazing! To clarify, we want our clients to avoid drinking as much as possible and honestly not do it at all, but for those that do and will continue to do so, we would like you to choose healthier options. |
Big Shoutout to Coach Summer for heading down to Nashville this weekend to the annual Healthy Steps Nutrition Seminar.
At the seminar, Summer heard from notable speakers such as Stuart Brauer from WTF Gym Talk and many more!
Summer will be studying to become an HSN Nutrition Coach in Q4 of 2023, hoping to educate our clients at Savoy Fitness to become their best!

Coach Summer and Erika attended Burgener's Olympic Lifting Strength Course at Fern Creek Crossfit this past weekend.
This two-day course with the Burgener Strength Team dialing in the fundamentals, drills, and positions for both the snatch and clean & jerk in coaching and performance breakouts.
The focus is on participants learning and experiencing the foundational teaching points for instructing others to achieve them. Coach Erika, thank you so much for pioneering this idea, and thank you, Summer, for being super awesome! |

Second half of the year, here we come! July started our Oly Cycle, which will continue to be the main focus in August. We also switched our conditioning focus to be geared towards higher intensity SPRINT workouts showing up more often throughout the week. Let’s shift focus to the month of August! We will see a continuation of the Oly Cycle, building percentages and eventually retesting our 1RM Snatch + Clean & Jerk. We will also retest Grace and Isabel or Randy just like we did at the beginning of the cycle to see how increased strength carries over to our barbell metcons.
